We’re looking for the next Director of Marketing position for Dystopia Rising New York. As Director of Marketing, you’ll be responsible for communication and revenue for the chapter, with a primary focus on driving player attendance. You’ll also handle most communication with the staff, including initial emails and making sure players get responses in a timely manner. Most importantly, you’ll set expectations for play, and help build excitement and hype for our events.

January is our first winter game, which means we’re expecting plenty of snow on the ground… which means we’re going to have some snow activities for you all. We wanted to give you plenty of notice in case you wanted to modify your kit to play in the snow, or if you wanted to bring any “props” for the, um, contest (see below).

This January, Dystopia Rising New York will introduce a new holiday - the High Lord Executioner’s Black & Crimson Masquerade Ball. You might have noticed that Essex, the new High Lord Executioner, has a different style than his predecessor, and for New Year’s, he’s going to showcase his new regime with a Masquerade Party. So what should you expect at the Black & Crimson Ball?

As winter falls on the fold, the staff of Dystopia Rising New York gets to take a break. We’re going to to be relatively quiet for the next few weeks, so here’s what to expect!

This month, we’ll tell you about the Earning Season, a time for trade, negotiations… and one of Requiem’s most important holidays, the Burning. The Burning is a Volkov holiday, where they release the burden of their most dire secrets and a time for all of the Fold to share in their tradition.

While we’ve made plot kits (Red Line) and opt in engagements (“I feel”) embracing the fuck around and find out culture, those are very much choices we want you as a Player to make and embrace for your Character. On the flip side, we also want you as your Character to make some smart choices for you as a Player.

Every year for the Feast of Flesh we open a special little experience often referred to as "The Torture Shack." What exactly is the shack?

‘Feast of Flesh’. More than likely you have heard of it, but if you’re new to Requiem and haven’t had the pleasure yet, we are here to tell you a little about what you can expect from DR:NY’s time honored October tradition.

Since May, players and family heads have engaged with npc’s to negotiate an updated treaty of the fold. During Honor’s Fall, through actions and reactions, the 13 families were decided upon and a new High Lord Executioner was named. As the new High Lord, Essex Anastasia’s first order of business was to make official the negotiated Treaty of The Fold.

The name of our event comes from Honor’s Fall itself, when the High Lord Executioner suspends the Treaty of the Fold and the residents of Requiem settle all the scores from the past year. While we emphasize the Character versus Character (CvC) conflict we’re expecting Saturday night, most conflict during Honor’s Fall is Character versus Enemy (CvE).

Dystopia Rising New York encourages body positivity to all, without exception for gender or other characteristics. In order to promote this, and ensure all players feel safe dressing in the costume of their choice, we have the following announcements.

As we finalize our preparations for Honor’s Fall, we have a couple of opportunities for you. Specifically, opportunities to beat up your friends with foam weapons. If you like trying to kill your friends’ characters in a consequence free environment, check out these opportunities.

The hardest thing about armor is actually wearing it. Our physreps can often be hot, uncomfortable, and hamper movement. Since Requiem sees a lot more hit-and-run tactics than standing battles, we wanted to come up with a new armor where the phys-rep was actually light and comfortable. Thus… the Fast Mover Vest.

This Honor’s Fall, on Sunday morning, we will have a special reward for all the Family Heads… the High Lord Executioner will give them each a Memento… a large metal coin that we hope will be a new mainstay of the setting. Inspired by the John Wick movies, Memento will represent a different sort of economy in Requiem - one of favors and backed up by honor amongst thieves.

Requiem is hard on religion… we know this. So when we put in our request for blueprints for Honor’s Fall, we wanted to make sure we got players of priests and other faithful something good. And they gave it to us - at Honor’s Fall, you’ll see the first of a new sort of print: Benedictions.

At Dystopia Rising New York, we have a pre-game tradition called #readytoreq, which is a hashtag campaign where you can earn up to 40 CAPs (enough for a mind refresh meal) by posting hype about the upcoming event. With us nearing 200 players for Honor’s Fall, we wanted to do something special. For Honor’s Fall… you can earn up to 80 CAPs… enough for two mind-refreshes!
