Get ready to travel, because to celebrate the Massachusetts and Pennsylvania chapters’ return to live play, they’re teaming up with Dystopia Rising New York to run a three-part, cross-chapter plot! “Echoes of the Common Fall” will run on three consecutive weekends, beginning April 28 - 30 in Massachusetts, continuing May 5 - 7 in Pennsylvania, and concluding May 12 - 14 in New York.

This month, Dystopia Rising New York welcomes fresh faces with our first New Player Drive since our return to live play. We hope to make this a regular event and want to make sure all players… both our brand-new players and our regulars can enjoy these benefits. Prior to Early Bird tickets for our June Premiere event, Dogs of War, going on sale next month, we need to identify two groups of players who will attend: our “Dirty Dozen” of Trained Survivors and players requiring reasonable accommodations. As we approach our pre-sale period for Dogs of War, our June Premiere (applications for Trained Survivors and Accommodations go out tomorrow), we want to know what to expect, out-of-character, with regards to the schedule. Remember, most of the campsite will be out-of-character Friday night, with in-character activities limited to the area near the A-Frame.

Our June Premiere Event, Dogs of War, is a unique event with special NPC requirements to simulate large battles and a need to accommodate different levels of immersion. Our April event, GRINDHOUSE! sees the return of Dystopia Rising New York’s Special Event mods, as we bring you Hell’s Hill… a literal hill to die on. While players who’ve been coming to Requiem over the past year might remember our previous Special Events (the Train Job, Jones Town, and the Hot Zone), we wanted to recap how Special Events work, and introduce you to Hell’s Hill.

In the Northeast, we have the good fortune to have several different games all within driving distance (this summer, it will hopefully be at least five - MA, NJ, NY, PA, and VA). In addition, we’ve been blessed with travelers from Texas, who come up regularly, adding immensely to our events. Travel is what makes this network unique and brings our brand of the apocalypse to life. Also, you all like to bring loot.

Dystopia Rising New York’s March event, “Hunger and Frost,” began with the undead. An endless horde of shamblers and bursters stumbled through Requiem, first attacking a group of returning survivors making their way through town and then pouring through the streets into the Great Hall.

At our March event, Hunger & Thirst, you’re going to meet the Bathory Sempers, who are a society of Semper Morts last seen at the Falls. But as it’s been some time, here’s a primer on who they are and what to expect this weekend.

This week at our March event, Hunger & Frost, we’ll introduce our first set of Strain Variants for Dystopia Rising New Yok: Bathory Sempers, Consigliere Rovers and Dynasty Yorkers.

As our chapter grows, we see more and more requests for Professional Focus Achievements (PFAs). In order to accommodate our players, and avoid delays, we’re allowing players to teach other players a PFA.

As the next Dystopia Rising New York game is the same weekend as the next national event, we’ve worked with both the national staff and Southern California chapter to bring special benefits to our players.

As we continue to improve and refine our events, we have a few policies we want to communicate. These are here to make the game run smoother as well as provide for your safety.

For our March Event, Dystopia Rising New York wants to welcome players who haven’t played Dystopia Rising in over a year. As we’ve talked about before, returning players face unique challenges and don’t often receive the same level of care as other groups (such as new players) might receive. To address this, we’re announcing our Returning Player Drive. 

Our March event, Hunger and Frost, will focus on a starving community known as the Bathory Sempers. The Bathory are one of our local strain variants that you’ll be seeing later this year, and we’ll be talking more about them specifically later this month (you’ve already met at least one other local variant, the Dynasty Yorkers, although you might not have realized it). As the Bathory are Gorgers, who have a Lineage mechanic related to, well, gorging, we thought it would be good to review how Gorgers eat.
