Welcome to Dystopia Rising New York! We’re a post-apocalyptic live action role-playing game, where you play a character living generations after the fall of humanity, surviving in a zombie-filled wasteland. Join us to meet new friends, act out your character’s story with them, and then hit them in real-time combat with foam weapons…

What Is Dystopia Rising Larp?

Dystopia Rising is a long-running larp, where each month you can play a survivor for three days (Friday night through Sunday morning), along with other players, on a campsite we transform into the post-apocalyptic town of Requiem. You’ll create a character, dress up in a costume, and carry foam weapons (called boffers) to engage in combat with undead zombies that attack the town, as well as cannibalistic raiders, mutated monsters, and most of all, other survivors. Over the weekend, you’ll be in character almost the entire time, collectively telling a story with a hundred other players.

Our chapter is part of a network of twenty inter-connected games across the United States, with over a decade of shared history. By joining Dystopia Rising, you’ll have access to events almost every weekend, both in person and online, and the opportunity to travel and make new friends across the country.

What Can I Expect?

First, we’ll direct you to our New Player page, which will have resources for you to prepare for the game. We will onboard you on site, so all you have to do is gather your camping equipment and create a costume. Once you’re here, our staff will explain the rules and help you make a character. After you’ve made your character and learned the basic rules from our New Player guide, you’ll begin play at 10 pm on Friday at our site in Forestburg, New York. We’ll start you off with other new players, on an adventure designed to introduce you to the world. You’ll sleep in-character in one of our cabins (which, despite the setting, have beds and electricity) and for the next 38 hours, be immersed in the zombie apocalypse. Not only will you fight zombies and other monsters, but you’ll be able to enjoy the culture of the town we create together: partaking of food we make in-character, music we play acoustically, and learn how to get your character better equipment and learn new skills. At noon on Sunday, we call “game off”, clean up the site together, and then head out to a diner to get to know our new friends.

How Do I Join?
