Guide Applications for our 25-26 Season Out Now!

Bri Oshrin August 19, 2025

After every Honor’s Fall, Dystopia Rising New York goes through a season reset. During this time we rehire all of our staff. This not only invites new guides to join us, but offers long time guides the ability to choose to continue with us or take time off and enjoy being a player.

Will you join us?

Guide Expectations

All guides will be held to higher expectations as representatives of Dystopia Rising New York. Guides should act as an example of what we want to see in our community. New guides will receive hands on training alongside another guide assigned to teach you. Guides will receive team swag and more!

Guide Responsibilities:

  • Be in good standing with the chapter

  • Attend at least half of the events in a season

  • Have flexibility with selecting shifts (AM or PM)

  • Be respectful and welcoming to all players, local and visiting

  • Must read and understand your relevant information within the DR Live Source Material. Examples:

    • Field - Skill calls

    • Coord - Research and blueprints

Field Guides

A Field Guide provides an important role at Dystopia Rising New York by helping to facilitate modules on the field and oversee CVC interactions. Field Guides hold the responsibility of ensuring a friendly and fair event.

Field Guide Responsibilities:

  • Remain up to date with combat and CVC rules

  • Understand how to use Threat Cards and Loot

  • Be comfortable with conflict resolution based around rules calls

  • Perform 1-2 Card Checks per event

  • Relay issues to Ops, or any incidents requiring immediate intervention to the Director team

  • Utilize the Logistics document to log any important information

Coordination Guides

Coordination, or Coord, Guides are what we also know as our Post Office workers. Our Coord Guides are masters with a pen and if there’s something they don’t know, they’re quick to look it up!

Coord Guide Responsibilities:

  • Answer and Record Research Questions

  • Consistent communication with Ops

  • Filling out cards properly and legibly

  • Properly print and emboss new Blueprints

  • Utilize the Logistics document to log any important information

Genre Guides

Without our Genre Guides, we wouldn’t have the zed, raiders, and other creatures with looks so gnarly they surround you with post-apocalyptic immersion.

Genre Guide Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring all NPCs are properly outfitted for their individual roles

  • Evaluating In game Spaces for genre

  • Making Sure Monster Camp, Props, and Costuming are properly organized and clean/sanitized

  • Partner with your Ops Guide to update Logistics document with any low supplies

Field/Coord/Genre Guide Perks:

  • Discounted tickets

  • 1 Free Build

  • Caps

  • DRNY Team gear

Writers/Ops Guides

Writers are Ops Guides and Ops Guides are Writers. These are the people that breath life into Requiem, and sometimes death. Go from designing mods from your desk at home to running them from the desk at Ops, your focus is story, story, story!

Writers/Ops Guide Responsibilities:

  • Meeting deadlines, exceptions must be communicated ASAP

  • Read through ALL of the DR Live Supplemental Content

  • Weave lore packets and information into your mods that helps flesh out the world of Requiem

  • Comfortable with task delegation and time management

  • Communicating with guides and directors in person and through walkie-talkies

  • Ensuring all mods leaving Ops receive a final check for stats, costume, etc to reflect the mod as needed

  • Utilize both the Story Document and Logistics document

Writer/Ops Guide Perks:

  • Free event

  • Full build

  • Caps

  • DRNY team gear
