The Families of Requiem

The story of Requiem’s families is almost as old as Requiem itself. They journeyed to the settlement as a way to escape their old lives. Now, the families are an institution. Each of them have their own hierarchies, though they share two things in common: All families are lead by a “head” and all of them are responsible for one area of town as a way to prevent infighting.

When choosing a family in play, you’ll want to role-play with the other members of that family first and see if that style works for you. You’ll also want to take a look at what the family has jurisdiction over, since this will determine what sort of experience you’ll have at an event.

Joining a family allows you to get involved with the politics of Requiem, as well as various family plot. It also automatically gives you a group to role-play with and ties you into the stories that others are telling. Below, you’ll find more information about each family. Click a name to directly go to that particular family.

Patron Families

Patron Families are full, voting families of Requiem. They have a full stake in the ruling government and each Family is responsible for a specific part of the town and its upkeep.

Ward Families and New Families

Ward families are newer families that are being sponsored by a patron family. Ward families have some say in politics, but are not full, voting members when it comes to decisions with Requiem. Ward families are also expected to support their patron family if asked.

The Molon Collective

“Benedizioni Alla Tomba”
Blessings to the Grave

The Molons are one of the Patron families within Requiem, and have a history steeped in bloodshed and tragedy. Originally made up of psions and those who delve into the Mortis Amaranthine, the Family still holds to its old roots and traditions even to this day. They delve into death, and ensure that others within Requiem don’t disrupt the cycle. They oversee the morgue, assist with research into topics that affect the Mortis, and also oversee any procedures that delve into the Mortis Amaranthine.

They were originally founded by Keres Molon, who died her final death when she entered the town's crumbling, diseased Morgue in a final act to preserve the local Mortis.

Leadership and Organization:

The Molon Collective operates as an elective Monarchy. Positions include:

Family Head -This is the leader of the family, a position currently held by Nyathera “Nya” Molon.

Second - This is the “second” of the family who steps in when the head isn’t present. This position is held by Rasputin Kratikoff.

The Lucianos

“Mors Tua Vita Mea”
Your Death, My Life

The Lucianos are one of the patron families within Requiem, and are also one of the oldest within the settlement. Born from the fabled Anastasias, the Luciano Family is a notorious, openly criminal family made of equal parts politicians and assassins. They pride themselves on subtlety, and oversee the politics of Requiem as well as the less savory aspects of the town — such as Murder Inc.

Leadership and Organization:

The Luciano family has several tiers within it, allowing members to start as a prospect before being inducted into the family and rising through the ranks.

Don - This is the Luciano family head, a position currently occupied by Dante Anastasia Luciano.
Secondi - This is the “second” to the Don, and can act in the Don’s stead in case of the Don’s absence.
Consiglieri - The Consiglieri is next to the second, and largely focuses on social relations in the background.
Capo - The Capo is someone who has proven themselves as a leader within the Lucianos and has done work for them.
Soldati - Just above blooded, the Soldati is a position for those who have done work within the Luciano Family.
Blooded - This is an individual who has just joined and become one of the Family.
Prospect - Before an individual joins, they are a prospect, and learn the ways of the Luciano Family before joining.

The Boone-Helm Collective

“For every serial killer there are a thousand unsung maniacs.”

The Boone-Helm are a notoriously disorganized family, more akin to a pack of rabid dogs. Rumor has it that the Boone-Helm were once a Pure Blood family that succumbed to Bad Brain but clung to their refined pursuits in order to prevent their transformation into raiders. These new Tainted survivors managed to establish control over a swath of the Fold, and leveraged their position by providing the former ruling family much-needed muscle in times of war. After a number of years as hired mercenaries, Polaris Boone-Helm stepped forward and coalesced the Family into a proper unit. Now, the Boone-Helm protect the town from Raiders — and spread their own art in the form of blood and viscera.

Leadership and Organization:

The Boone-Helm Collective is ruled by a family head with a second — just in case that head dies in a bloody and unplanned way. Leaders are chosen through proving oneself to the current head.

Second - This is the second-in-command of the Boone-Helm collective, and is a position currently held by Jonas Boone-Helm

Lonely Streetz

“Loyalty. Bravery. Survival.”

If anything could define The Lonely Streetz, it’s good ol’ Yorker loyalty. Hailing from the streets of Old York, this Family has a long history and is known for cheeky antics and throwing awesome parties. First Boss "Uncle" Chuck Strong first brought The Streetz to a settlement called “Hayven” as an Affiliated Gang from Old York. From there, Second Boss Abraham 'Brock' Grant took over; Brock expanded the reputation of Lonely Streetz in the wasteland and oversaw the creation of the Lonely Streetz Hearts Club Band. Third Boss Brandon B. Roderick then consolidated the gang's interests leading into the Three Year Horde, leaving Tutex Mackenzie-Strong as Fourth Boss of the gang. In the aftermath of the Horde, Hedon Priestess Ridley flexed several of her muscles and took control of Lonely Streetz as Fifth Boss, guiding the gang into its current position as a Patron Family of Requiem. Specializing in connecting people and things, they operate as hookups and go-betweens connecting people with needed resources — and on the down low, they have significant sway in the Black Market and the drug trade.

Leadership and Organization:

Lonely Streetz is ruled by a family head, with a second (or two) beneath them to help corral the rabble.

Family Head - This is the head of Lonely Streetz, a position currently occupied by Killmore Eaglemaster
Second - Lonely Streetz normally has two seconds. The current holders of this position are Rad1 and Zero.

The Devils

“No Consequences.”

The Devils are known for their rides, their strength, and their penchant for hookah. The group of them have a rather informal structure, preferring not to arrange themselves in rigid ranks. The Family head delegates tasks to groups within the family, naming various sub-leaders as needed. When joining, newcomers require two “sponsors” from the Family to vouch for them, and after a prospecting period, they are allowed to join pending a vote among the Family. Their processes are rather loud and not very secretive. The group focuses on protecting the roads and merchants from danger.

Leadership and Organization:

The Devils are ruled by a family head, with two seconds beneath them specializing in different areas of expertise.

Family Head - This is the head of The Devils, a position currently occupied by Lance Arcos.
War Leader - This is one of the “seconds” of the Devils, and is a position currently occupied by Mercury Hellcat Firestone.

The Stevenson Family

“Father is Always Watching.”

The Stevensons operate as a large unit of the Nuclear Family, with “Father” at their head. The group is known for their excessively polite ways, lack of swearing, and the fact that they wear blue and green masks. The Stevensons trace their roots back to the humble small folk scattered throughout the Fold; honest and faithful farmers and builders. The former head of the Family had convinced those around him that a new approach was needed to survive these times in the Wastes - retreating to solitude in their farmhouses was no longer an option.

Leadership and Organization:

The Stevenson family is ruled by a “Father,” a position currently held by Abigail Stevenson. While there are “children” who she relies upon, there are no, traditional “seconds in command.”

Father- This is the head of The Stevensons, a position currently held by Abigail Stevenson.
Child - All other members of the Stevenson family are “children,” which is a slight deviation of the usual Nuclear Family faith, which usually has a Mother. Notable children in the family include Minerva Stevenson, who is a Semper Morte and the “muscle” of the family, as well as Luke Stevenson who is a Pure Blood who acts as Abigail’s “go to” person to remain grounded.

The Volkovs

“Information opens all doors.”

The history of the Volkovs is not very well known - in fact, it may be one of their closest kept secrets. They appeared seemingly overnight in Requiem, clad in their 'Volkov Blues' and masks decorated with bright purple nightshade, led by a masked individual by the name of Seraphis Volkov. The Volkovs “on duty” can be identified by their blue robes and distinctive white masks. Their organizational structure is shrouded in mystery; like a hive-mind collective, the family walks in lockstep with each other, new operatives rising wherever they are needed and fading into shadow when their work is done. It’s often said that to speak to one Volkov is to speak to all of them. Will they tell you the truth? Or does verity come at a higher price? The family is known for spies, information gathering, and disseminating that information to those that need to know — or to those that can pay the price.

Leadership and Organization:

The Volkov hierarchy is not well known. Some claim this is to ensure that no matter what, at least some of the Volkovs will persist and continue their work.

Family Head - This is the head of The Volkov is known as Dusk Volkov. Who is beneath him remains largely unknown.

The Lotus Society

“Every life is a debt waiting to be repaid.”

The Lotus Society started from the ashes of The Night of Knives, with Sinclair’s family mostly destroyed he rebuilt the Jarvis name from the ground up in quiet, ducking under the radar and avoiding unnecessary clashes with Requiem. Biding his time and building his port town right down the river, when the town needed order he stepped up to bring order back to The Fold. The Lotus Society is in charge of trade and business within Requiem, and their head, Sinclair, also acts as the “Vox Requiem.”

Leadership and Organization:

The Lotus Society functions similarly to a business, with Sinclair as its founder and chairman. With its internal structure mostly unknown, most of the people working under Sinclair have shown up dignified, serious, and well-maintained, usually sporting the society’s signature green tie as an identifier.

Family Head - This is the head of The Lotus Society, a position currently held by Sinclair Jarvis, a Digitarian.
Family Second - This is the second of The Lotus Society. If Sinclair is not present, the second has the power to make decisions in his stead. This position is held by the Pure Blood, Kilowatt
Master of Trade - This position is more of an ambassador position within the Lotus Society, and involves traveling to various settlements to set up good relations. This position is currently held by Sinclair’s sister, Sophia Jarvis.

The Anderson-Ambrosios Family

“Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.”

Faith has been a complex topic in the settlement of Requiem; where preaching is outlawed, somehow religiosity still flourishes. However, there are those that push the bounds of what is allowed, and that is where the Anderson-Ambrosios Family steps in. Rising from the ashes of the Jones Secularity to right the wrongs the Jones did, the Anderson-Ambrosios Family seeks to find balance between religiosity and overzealousness. The shepherds of the faithful and a waystation for lowly travelers, the hospitable strains of the Anderson-Ambrosios Family offer blessings, meals, and guidance along the journey. They are responsible for policing faith and rituals within Requiem.

Leadership and Organization:

The Anderson-Ambrosius family is ruled by a family head, who oversees the various different rituals within Requiem.

The Alexandria Family

“Docendo Discimus.”
By Teaching, We Learn.

An up-and-coming family who has yet to become a patron family, The Alexandria Family was formed not as a way to gain power or control, but as a way to spread knowledge. Their mission is to teach – to guide those that need guidance and to provide a light amidst the dark. They believe in the power of understanding and that through it, they can strengthen not just themselves but also their community. Their main goals are to create a library and provide teaching and lessons for those within Requiem, though it is rumored they have secret rituals and rites that their members undertake.

Leadership and Organization:

Within the Alexandria Family, there are several ranks of specialization. Many of these ranks are not one above the other, but instead are specific duties that a member has agreed to undertake.

Chief Librarian - The Chief Librarian acts as the family head for the Alexandria Family. This individual participates in the rite of Honor’s Fall as the head, and is responsible for the continuance of the Alexandria family through recruiting and organizing the traditions. The Chief Librarian may appoint up to 2 Curators, with one acting as the “Head Curator.”
Curator - A Curator acts as the right hand person to the Chief Librarian, who is the family head. They are responsible for ensuring that all Archivists and Initiates know the traditions, and are properly maintaining the library. A Curator is also responsible for assisting the Chief Librarian with organizing the traditions on a monthly basis, and voting on behalf of the Chief Librarian when they are not available.
Seeker - Seekers are Archivists who specialize in seeking out knowledge wherever it may be, including in forgotten ruins from the times before. These are individuals who recover lost artefacts and knowledge before categorizing it and analyzing it for the library archives.
Librarian - Librarians are Archivists that specialize in categorizing and maintaining the library on a more professional level. They ensure that any knowledge that is brought to the library is fit for understanding and reading by others, and categorize it appropriately. These are individuals that have various connections with researchers and those out in the field.
Peer - Peers are Archivists that have chosen the path of teaching. They schedule group lectures or group lessons on a regular basis, and aim to teach the settlement more about their area of expertise. They also create, record and then enact lesson plans. This is a calling for those that enjoy spreading knowledge to others in an entertaining way.
Archivist - Archivists are full members of The Alexandria family. They receive their journal and are responsible for assisting with maintaining the Alexandria Family library, as well as recording information to archive. An Archivist may choose to specialize further as a Peer, Librarian, or Seeker.
Initiate - This is an individual who has not yet become a full member of the family and our order. They are paired with a full member to learn our family’s ways, and are encouraged to join in on our family traditions and events. An Initiate goes through a trial period of three months before they may become a full member as an Archivist.
