Trade Compacts & the Night Market is a plot kit for players who want to use items from another chapter. Players initiate this process for specific items with action requests, choosing which of the two options they want to use: Trade Compacts or the Night Market.

What’s the Night Market?

The Night Market consists of smuggling routes that allow players in Dystopia Rising New York to use (but not procure) specific local items from another chapter. Once a chapter has a Night Market route established, players can use the item on local plot cards from the other chapter.

Setting Up a Night Market Route

Night Market routes are “illegal” by local standards and set up using a Master Criminal Influence request. The request is always for a single item (never an entire buy list). If approved, another chapter’s local items… written on that chapter’s local plot cards… will work in the chapter where the request was made. However, there’s no way to procure the item locally.

Example: Dystopia Rising New York approved Oxblood, one of Dystopia Rising Texas’ local items. Any player in New York who has an Oxblood local plot card from Texas can use it, but there’s no way to obtain the item in New York, or have it on a New York local plot card.

What’s A Trade Compact?

A Trade Compact is a financial agreement that allows players in Dystopia Rising New York to procure and use specific local items from another chapter. Once a player establishes a Trade Compact, the other chapter’s items function exactly as if they were from DRNY.

Setting Up a Trade Compact

Trade Compacts are “legitimate” financial agreements, and set up using a Master Financial Influence request. The request should be for a single item (or, if the other chapter has a buy list associated with Society Membership, an entire buy list). If approved, the other chapter’s items may be procured locally (i.e. you can go to Public Works to buy them). Further, if the item is on a local plot card from the other chapter, it can still be used in DRNY.

Example: A DRNY player uses a Trade Compact to use Dystopia Rising Texas items from the Railroad Conglomerate Buy List. A player with with Society Membership: Railroad Conglomerate can go to the Public Works and purchase those item cards. Further, if they have one of the items on a Local Plot Card from Texas, they can use it in New York.

  • Once approved, a Trade Compact or Night Market route may be used by all players in DRNY.

  • Before we approve a Trade Compact (which allows you to procure items as well as use them), we will seek the permission of the other chapter to do so.
